The Director, Corporate Communications leads the strategic development, implementation, and management of internal communication strategies for the company. The incumbent is responsible for creating and implementing innovative programs and related communications that will help support company initiatives and build engagement across a highly distributed workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead communications and engagement strategies to build a high performing organizational culture.
  • Evaluate existing programs and identify and implement best practice methods to enhance the employee experience that will further motivate and influence behavior to support key initiatives across of the company.
  • Integrate consistent messaging into key employee communications. Ensure communications are engaging and employees are well-informed.
  • Create communications plan for key initiatives and programs. Utilize appropriate internal communications channels (e. g. intranet, email, technology solutions, printed materials, social media, etc.) to drive engagement.
  • Collaborate with Brand Communications and External Communication Leads to ensure internal communication efforts are consistent and aligned with external and brand messaging.
  • Research, evaluate, select and manage vendors as needed but primarily deliver projects through their own efforts in a “hands on environment”.
  • Develop and manage budgets and projects effectively.
  • Serve as visible champion for employee engagement.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead, identify, and manage change initiatives in the areas of communications and engagement.
  • Identify, implement and monitor metrics to measure effectiveness of communications and engagement initiatives and to develop action plans and objectives to continuously improve.
  • Identify opportunities to be externally acknowledged as a “Best Place to Work” or similar Develop a deep understating of the business and industry to support alignment of internal communications and engagement to business strategy.
  • Build effective relationships with senior executive leadership, peers and employees

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive corporate communications experience. Prior experience with public life science companies strongly preferred.
  • A strong, engaged leader with the ability to align communications and engagement strategy, culture, process, and practice to create a meaningful work environment and achieve results.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in best practice internal communications and employee engagement efforts.
  • Experience in successfully leading engagement and communications efforts for a geographically dispersed, diverse workforce. Excellent stakeholder relationship skills to ensure alignment and support.
  • Possess outstanding written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills. Dynamic communicator.
  • Strong customer service orientation. Responsive to request. Ability to manage conflicting priorities. Self-directed and motivated. Flexible. Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Track record of creative problem solving, influencing, change management, and eliminating barriers at any organizational level.
  • Excellent business acumen; focused on how communications and engagement efforts can accelerate business results.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrated track record of excellent project and program management skills. Track record in seamless execution and delivery of results.
  • Strong ethics and values with a high level of integrity.
